New dates for our very popular sewing classes have just be finalised.
Dressmaking -starts Tuesday the 21st February 2017 and will run for 6 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm
Up Cycling - Starts Wednesday 22nd February 2017 and will run for 6 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm
Each course is especially designed to maximise the results achieved by each student.
Dressmaking -starts Tuesday the 21st February 2017 and will run for 6 weeks from 6.30pm - 9.30pm
Update or learn new skills in fashion design and sewing, in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Learning techniques which will allow you to create beautiful and individual pieces. This course is designed to guide you though the process of making a professionally finished fashion piece.
Particular attention will be paid to:
- Importance of fabric choice and what to look out for when choosing fabrics.
- Learn how to set up your machine and to correct any problems with your machine.
- Learn about measurements and sizing.
- Understanding commercial patterns.
- Preparing fabric, laying out and following patterns.
- Cutting according to pattern.
- Demonstrating how to adjust the pattern to fit.
- Basic sewing techniques like darts, seam finishing and installing an invisible zipper.
- Elementary tailoring tricks.
- Learn to hand stitch a couture-quality hem.
The course is designed to expand your sewing skills while offering a fun, fashion-focused sewing class. You will be encouraged to develop skills in areas of design and practice what you have learned in class before the next weeks class in order to maximize what you get out of this course.
Courses must have the minimum number to run, any deposits given if the course does not go ahead will be full refunded.

Upcycling - learn how to use large over sized garments and transform
them into creative new designs, through a series of carefully designed
mini projects

Upcycling is specialized course designed to equip students with all the necessary skills to enable them to turn old clothes into completely new items of clothing. This is a fantastic course for people who want to be able to alter and change there clothes in the future.
Particular attention will be paid to:
- Importance of fabric choice and what to look out for when choosing garments that you want to upcycle.
- Understanding measurements of the body.
- Reshaping necklines, armholes, darts, tucks, gathers, pin tucks bias binding zip insertions and many more sewing techniques used for adjusting and finishing garments.
- Demonstrating how to adjust and fit a garment.
- Elementary tailoring tricks.
- Learn to hand stitch a couture-quality hem.
- Learn how to do buttonholes.
The course is designed to expand your sewing skills while offering a fun, fashion-focused sewing class. You will be encouraged to develop skills in areas of design and practice what you have learned in class before the next weeks class in order to maximize what you get out of this course.
